The Ada Lovelace graphics card has had an AD103-300 GPU since its launch last November, but is now also available with an AD103-301 GPU; no major changes to expect though, both in terms of performance and price.
The GeForce RTX 4080 launched last November features an AD103-300 GPU. NVIDIA now offers versions with AD103-301 GPUs. This variant had been mentioned by several sources for a few days; it has been certified by Gainward. As always, this feature promises to be transparent for consumers. Especially since it is not a question here of a change of GPU of the same order as that operated for the GeForce RTX 3060 for example, some models of which have inherited a GA104 GPU initially intended for more high-end references.
Like the GPU AD104-250 et 251 recently mentioned for the GeForce RTX 4070, the difference between the two chips is limited to one element: version 0 requires an additional voltage comparator. By providing AD103-301 and AD104-251 GPUs to its partners, NVIDIA is simply allowing them to save on this electronic device. According to a previous Tweet from HKPEC, the saving is around $1 per PCB in the case of the AD104-251. In short, you will have understood, we are not talking here about a significant revision compared to the current AD103-300 GPU, and even on a large scale, the dollar earned should not drastically drop the price of this graphics card , of which the rate has also been deemed bad by MSI.
