The presidential majority had an amazing idea to save biodiversity. Rather thaninvest massively in the preservation of cash, the macronists prefer to rely on the wallets of citizens. Thus, last October, Renaissance MP Jean-Marc Zulesi tabled an amendment calling for the creation of a « Biodiversity lotto ». Purpose : fill the coffers of the National Office for Biodiversity (OFB)with a scratch game.
Using a 49.3, this measure now appears in the 2023 finance law. On the same model as the « Heritage Lotto »this game of chance must be distributed by la Française des jeux (FDJ) from this year and could bring in between 10 and 15 million euros for the public institution responsible for protecting biodiversity.
At least, that was without taking into account the brake on the gambling regulator. Auditioned on 1is February before the Senate Finance Committee, the President of the National Gaming Authority (ANJ), Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, said she was against its implementation: « It is a lotto that does not comply with the case law of the European Court. » The reason ? The addictive nature of this offer for young people, particularly affected by the themes of environmental protection.
On Twitterthe National Union for the Environment FSU at theOFB reacted by calling the game a « useless and dangerous gadget ». four months agoduring the media coverage of the amendment, he had already expressed his disagreement: « Here we are… Really ? This world is going crazy ! Games, lotto, biodiversity, financing… Nothing goes in this info worthy of Gorafi. This shows in what esteem we hold the protection of biodiversity. »
