Samsung’s foldable smartphone survives extreme durability test

The new Galaxy Z Fold 4 has passed JerryRigEverything’s extreme durability test. Samsung’s foldable smartphone did not give in under torture and passed the test still in working condition, which is not given to all devices.

As usual, Zack Nelson of the YouTube channel “JerryRigEverything” was quick to put Samsung’s new foldable smartphone through its extreme durability test. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 was only introduced a few weeks ago along with the Galaxy Z Flip 4, but it’s already been submitted to the test the torture de JerryRigEverything.

The foldable phone did pretty well, aside from a few scratches and dead pixels. Like other foldable smartphone durability tests, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 was put through four different tests: the scratch test, the dust test, the fire test and finally the hinge test. Yes, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has survived all these tests.

Razor blades, lighter and dirt did not overcome the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

To test the durability of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, JerryRigEverything notably used his usual razor blades, a lighter and a generous handful of soil. Like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 which survived the same test last year by being even more resistant than the Galaxy Z Fold 2, the Fold 4 did not encounter any particular difficulties.

Its screen and chassis obviously scratched under the razor’s edge, but the camera held up. However, the external screen covered with Gorilla Glass Victus seems to have the same resistance as that of the Fold 3. So there would not have been any improvements at this level.

Then came the dust test with soil. JerryRigEverything took good care of spreading the dirt all over the screen and even on the hinge. Not a speck of dust has managed to penetrate the hingeand the foldable smartphone has done quite well.

As for the baptism of fire, the internal screen of 7.6 inches covered with plastic was damaged after 10 seconds under the heat of the flame. Several pixels have turned completely black or green. The glass-covered outer screen fared better, holding out for 16 seconds before the flame from the lighter left a permanent white mark on the screen.

Galaxy Z Fold 4 hinge did not break under pressure

Finally, the folding test was also a success for the Galaxy Z Fold 4. JerryRigEverything tried to bend it in all directions by pressing hard, but the foldable smartphone did not give in once. At the end of the durability test, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 was still in perfect working order. We are now awaiting the durability test of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 like that of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 last year.
