By canceling your subscription, you will essentially switch to a free Spotify account. Spotify warns you of what benefits you will lose and when you will lose them. Spotify will then ask you to complete a survey about why you canceled your Premium account and whether you would be eligible to subscribe again. Complete the page if desired.

How to Delete Free Spotify Account?

A free Spotify account limits you to shuffle, so you have no control over the order in which your songs play.

To delete a free Spotify account:

  • Go to the Spotify website at this address and login to your account.
  • Click on Close my account and delete my data.
  • Follow the instructions.

You will then be prompted to enter your Spotify login details if you are not already logged in. Spotify will then ask you if you are sure, then validate. After closing your account, you will receive a link via email that will allow you to reactivate it within 7 days. After this time, you will no longer be able to reactivate your account, and Spotify will begin deleting your data. But you can always create another account.
