According to information from journalist Mark Gurman, Apple could drastically change the user experience on its Apple Watch with the update to watchOS 10.

It is now confirmed. On June 5, Apple will organize its major annual conference for developers, WWDC 2023. Like every year, this should be an opportunity for the American firm to unveil the next updates for its various operating systems, whether it’s macOS, iOS or even watchOS for smartwatches.

In his Power On newsletter, agency reporter Mark Gurman Bloomberg also looks at the new features that would be planned for the different Apple Watch. And according to him, version 10 of watchOS should present a large number of new features:

I believe the next version of watchOS will have a lot of new stuff — with notable UI changes — unlike iOS 17. It’s important for watchOS to have a great year since Apple Watch hardware updates will be minor .

However, Mark Gurman does not go further on the expected new features for watchOS. Remember that Apple has never really changed the user interface of its connected watches. The cloud of applications in which it is possible to zoom in has been present since the first version of the system, launched in 2015. Since then, Apple has mainly focused on certain features, the addition of applications, hardware changes or more sport-oriented functions.

watchOS 9 was mainly focused on sports functions

Last year, the update to watchOS 9 made it possible to drastically change the sports training application. This now makes it possible to truly compete with connected watches for sport with not only the planning of interval training sessions, but also the customization of views to display this or that data during the effort.

We should know more about watchOS 10 during its official presentation. This should take place on June 5 during WWDC 2023. However, you will have to wait a few more months, in the fall, to take advantage of this update which should be automatically installed on future Apple Watch Series 9 As usual, the update is also expected to be ported to previous watch models, be it the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra, or Apple Watch SE 2022.
