From vacuum cleaners to fans to air purifiers, Dyson is well known for its expertise in home appliances. In recent years, we have also seen him venture into the beauty sector. Far from abandoning its ambition, the British company has just announced a major investment of 500 million pounds sterling (about 579 million euros) in this area.

Dyson invests heavily in robotics

This contribution will thus enable it to open new research laboratories and launch some twenty new products over the next four years. In detail, Dyson specifies that these new research sites will complement the 6,000 engineers who already work in its facilities in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, China, and the Philippines.

The tech giant hasn’t revealed what kinds of new products it plans to release. Currently, she stands out for her AirWrap styling tool, and her Supersonic hair dryer.

In a press release, Dyson nevertheless explained:

For too long there has been both misunderstanding and misrepresentation across styling tools to truly cater to different hair types, while saving hair from heat damage.

And the company adds: This investment will create new laboratory space to both refine Dyson’s understanding of hair types globally, while supporting the continued diversification of Dyson’s beauty technology. »

Interestingly, Dyson has tended to diversify for several years. To cite just one example, last June we told you about the company’s efforts in the robotics sector. The idea is to develop machines that could spare us household chores.

These robots are still being designed in the greatest secrecy in the United Kingdom and Singapore. Jake Dyson, the group’s chief engineer and son of the founder, said: It’s a big bet on future robotics technology that will drive research across Dyson, in areas including mechanical engineering, machine learning and energy storage. ».
